Note: SDU: Sex Duties Unit's Thursday gross is an estimate.

Most 3D holdover films saw heavier drops in gross due to the 2D switchover.

The Wolverine had a decent hold and might come away with $665,000 this weekend. WOM remains very strong. It will blast through 2m this week. 3m will come around next week and it'll challenge X-Men: First Class for the biggest X-Men ever.

In 2nd was The Smurfs 2, who opened well below its predecessor. Its gross was not as devastatingly bad as its admissions as it was only down 29% from The Smurfs' opening day. The decline with the sequel can be blamed on market saturation with Monsters University, Despicable Me 2 and Doraemon and a poor original film from The Smurfs. WOM seems to be quite good for now but weekend should give us a much clearer picture of its true WOM. It is aiming for $500,000 this weekend, a step below The Smurfs' OW.

Ryan Reynolds is back with another disappointment. Apart from his animated work, Ryan Reynolds has no starpower in Hong Kong as all of his live action films since The Proposal have fared below average. R.I.P.D. was no exception as it had to be helped by its 3D prices to warp ahead of Monsters University and SDU. WOM is not looking good. It might be able to eke out a $425,000 weekend.

Monsters University dropped out of the top 3 with the 2 openers budging through. #2 will be close but it looks like it will just miss and be #3 instead. Adding another $480,000 this weekend will bring up its swanky total to a buff $9.4m. 10m will be passed by next week.

SDU: Sex Duties Unit avoided the traditional frontloaded 2nd weekend and cut its business in half. It will advance past 1.5m this weekend and 2m will happen by next week. It won't reach Vulgaria's total but it may hit 2.7-2.8m.

Pacific Rim is forging ahead nicely. It did drop 56% on Thursday but 4m is still looking good at the moment. It should be able to clear the 4m mark either next week or the week after depending on next week's slate of movies.

Despicable Me 2 carried on its business with another fantastic hold. The Smurfs 2 disappointing worked out in its favour as it took charge with the best hold of the top 10. It will stir up 4m next week.

With the market saturated, there was little for the Jay Chou film to latch on to. Outside of his contingent of fans, there was no other demographics wanting to see this movie. Though it had a sizable theater count, people were not interested. It should take in about $140,000-$150,000 this weekend.

Doraemon: Nobita's Secret Gadget Museum continued its 2nd weekend with a nice hold. It will enter Doraemon's all time top 5 by the end of this weekend.

Secretly Greatly expanded into 10 theaters this weekend but did not garner much attention or money. WOM is great although I don't know if there will be enough time for it to have a sleeper run like Miracle in Cell No. 7.

Outside the top 10, Forbidden Super Hero continued to draw viewers at the 2 theaters playing it. It will clear $100,000 by next week.
